How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success?

Well that’s over and done,

Welcome out of retirement.

John said it best in 2001

with a half ass wave goodbye.

I’m happy to report –

I found my reasons why.

Mr. T couldn’t convince me

That my puzzle pieces weren’t enough.

Playing someone else’s game for too long,

Like Lauryn said, “Reprocity.”

Something I’d never get from them.

Welcome to my new,

Building up what others tore away.

You all seem to know,

My many failed attempts at adulting.

Well they could have gone better,

More perspective to dig through.

Glad they didn’t though,

Clean slate to fill with new adventures.

You’re question hasn’t slipped my mind,

It’s all there between their lines.

Those meant for my past have all come and gone.

I’m happy to see the silver lining glowing strong.

Still very much in front of me.
